Crosby, Ansel

Ansel Crosby

Founders Cemetery, Marker #26

(1847-1854)

Epitaph: I miss thee dear Ansel, but I know thou art at rest. With thy white dimpled hands across thy cold breast, but I know thou art gone where the weary are at rest and the poor broken hearted look up and are blessed

Ansel was born about July 1847 and died 12 December 1854—the second son of Theophilus and Margaret Crosby to have the name Ansel, his brother, Ansel, having died only six months before he was born. The first Ansel died at the age of eight years, the second at the age of seven years.

Ansel is buried beneath the same row of grave markers as his parents, his brother Ansel, and other children of his parents from different marriages.

Through Theophilus, his father, Ansel is a Mayflower descendant, being descended from Mayflower passenger, William Brewster.

More information about Ansel and his parents may be found in the Old Stones Family Group Sheet Index.
