(1799-1872)
Sophia Flint was born in Yarmouth Township 1 Nov 1799 and died of “inflammation” in Maitland (now Port Maitland) 12 Jan 1872. She was the daughter of David and Catherine (Tedford) Flint.
Sophia married first on 12 Jan 1819 Aaron Shaw who died in 1821 at the age of 25. They had two daughters, Catherine who died at the age of five weeks and Sophia who was born one month before her father’s death.
Sophia married second Asa Pitman, probably about 1824. The first of their eight children was born 11 Aug 1825. Asa and Sophia are buried next to each other in the Free Will Baptist Cemetery with separate grave markers. This cemetery is also the burial place of three of their five daughters: Abby Jane, Catherine (Pitman) Jeffery and Matilda (Pitman) Norton.
More about Sophia, her husbands and children will be found in the Old Stones Family Group Sheet Index.
