Free Will Baptist Cemetery, Marker #24

(~1822-1880)

Robert was born about 1822 and died 22 Feb 1880 at the age of 57. He was the son of David and Johannah (Spinney) Jeffery. Robert is a brother of John Nelson who is buried in the Free Will Baptist Cemetery and a brother of Aaron who is buried in the Calvinist Baptist Cemetery. He was both a fisherman and farmer. Robert married Catherine Pitman in Maitland (now Port Maitland) on 16 Dec 1849. Catherine, and two of their ten children, Norman Edgar and Annie M, are buried near him and named on the same grave marker.

Robert is a Mayflower descendant, as passenger Stephen Hopkins is probably an ancestor.
