Free Will Baptist Cemetery, Marker #34

(1817-1887)

Epitaph: In thy name shall they rejoice all the day and in thy righteousness shall they be called. Also a circled chain with the inscription Parted below united above.

Matilda was born in Gagetown, New Brunswick 13 October 1817. Her parents were Mary Caroline (Perley) and George Samuel Bennison. She married Henry Goldfinch who is buried next to her.We don’t know the date of their marriage. In addition to Matilda and Henry, two of their eight children are named on the grave marker: Sarah who died in Curaçao and Arthur who was lost at sea. Matilda was a Free Will Christian Baptist. The family probably attended the church that stood on this cemetery site.
