Reeves, James H.

Founders Cemetery – Marker #15

(1854-1857)

James was born about January 1854, and died on
22 February 1857, as his marker states he was 3 years and one month old when he died. James father was Edward Scott Reeves and his mother was Desire Hersey. Desire is a Mayflower descendant, so James was related to Pilgrims Doty, Howland, Soule and Standish. There is a Reeves dam on the Corning Lake watershed, and this may have been where James’ family lived.

Epitaph: “His life was like a new blown flower, Closed ‘ere the shades of every hour”

Information about his parents may be found in the Old Stones Family Group Sheet Index.
