Charles Alfred Perry

Founders Cemetery, Marker #22

(~1828-1853)

Charles was born about 1828 and died on the schooner Active, bound from Santo Domingo for New York, 11 May 1853, age 24. We do not know the circumstances of his death nor do we know whether his body was brought to Beaver River for burial or if he was buried at sea with the grave marker being erected in his memory. Charles was the son of Rufus and Susanna (Porter) Perry. He married in Dec 1850 Phoebe Elizabeth Corning who died, at the age of 22, in Salem, Mass. only a year after Charles. She is named on the same grave marker. They had a daughter, Helen, who died at the age of 16 months who is buried in the same lot and named on their grave marker.

Charles is a Mayflower descendant. Through his father he is descended from Mayflower passenger William Brewster.

More about Charles and his family will be found in the Old Stones Family Group Sheet Index.
