(~1798-1877)
Joseph Durkee was born in Ohio (now South Ohio), Yarmouth County about 1798 and died 22 Sep 1877, age 79, the son of Robert and Lydia (Allen) Durkee. He married Hannah Porter who died in July 1871, is buried next to him and named on the same grave marker. Later in 1871 Joseph married Hannah’s sister, Anne, widow of Waterman Allen who drowned at sea in 1861. Joseph and Hannah had 15 children, the youngest of whom, Emeline, married Joseph P Eldridge. She died at the age of 21 and is buried with her parents and named on the same grave marker.
Joseph is a Mayflower descendant, being descended from Mayflower passengers: William Brewster, John Howland and John Tilley. As both his wives are descended from passengers Isaac Allerton and John Billington, his children are descendants of five Mayflower families.
More information about Joseph, his wives, and children may be found in the Old Stones Family Group Sheet Index.

Hi, thanks for putting this page together. Joseph Durkee is my 3rd great grandfather. His son, Thomas, was my 2nd great grandfather. If I can add any info from Thomas on down to my grandmother, Ruth Durkee, let me know. Jeremy
